Final boards

Here are the final boards which i am going to submit for hand in for this brief:

This is the impact board for the brief. i wanted to use a large image to grab the attention and to also show what the brief was about. by using the attractive front cover image used for the lookbook i think it works really well ,with the following boards showing the range in which this design has been used.

This board show the main lookbook and the detailing. by show ing the various double spreads and content you can get a feel for what the book is about.

Showing the stages in which the fold out poster can be use din i think this board works quite well. Possibly i could use another board to show the poser when it has been fully folded out, and to show both sides.

Using the same format as the lookbook i have cropped into some of the images to show the detailing on the catalogue aswell as the content and format used.

Now i have all the individual elements of the this brief completed i can photograph them altogether as a set and think about how i should photograph them for my final boards for submission.

Wall poster

Here is the finished product of the wall poster for the lookbook. The little concertina/wall poster is an added extra for the bottled bohemia lookbook. It can be used as a separate piece of promotion or an extra to be sent out with the catalogue and lookbook.

product range - extension

To finish of the brief seeing as a i have a little time before Beths deadline i have decided to create a wall poster that has all the best photos form her studio and location shoots. This could be an added extra piece of promo for her collection.

Here is the layout that i have chosen for her wall poster:

I have kept in the front cover design as i have had the idea to make the poster a fold down A5 concertina. The photos can be viewed as a concertina and then fold out into an 2 poster. The A5 format will watch the catalogue and could be easily handed out as promo for the collection.

Beth has chosen the image for the rear of the poster. She wanted it to be full bleed as an impact poster. The design and layout which i have use for this side is:

Catalogue photos

To document the catalogue i have taken a few shots to document its form and progress. i intend to take proper studio photos of each of the products that can be use din my final boards and presentation.

Finished product - catalogue

The catalogue is now stitched and cropped. i was abit weary about the cropping and weather or not i had left enough bleed for the images. Because of the catalogues small size the margin for error when cropping pages is slimmer and my cutting had to be more precise.

To ensure an accurate sew and book bind i clamped the pages together down the seam so they didn't move and then pierced the holes to which i will sew through to bind the book. I had to make sure the double page spreads were aligned properly and the there was enough bleeds between the margins.

The book has been bound successfully and tied off on the outer seam and a tail left. i have left the tail as i believe it adds character to the book and gives the hand crafter feel that i was aiming for.

Catalogue layout

Ontop of the lookbook, beth asked me to produce a small A5 catalogue to display the prices and sizes of her garments that are featured in her collection. I decided to use the same layout as the lookbook but add a little change for the pricing layout and also for the section titles. The catalogue needs breaking up into sections. For this i will use a page banner to break up the rhythm of the catalogue.

Here are some the layouts and detailing for the catalogue:

The lookbook has now been bound and cropped. it looks better than i thought. the choice of full bleed images paid off as it benefited me when cropping the book down to have flush edges.

Here are a few shots of the finished product:

I am really pleased with the results of the lookbook. It has come together almost perfectly. The stitching adds a real sense of hand crafted care into the book and the vibrant colours really make it stand out.

It's printed!

6 hours spent in the print room feeding the pages double sided has paid off. the pages have been printed and look better than i imagined. All that is left to do is stitch and crop the book together.

Going to print!

Today the lookbook is finally going to print, all the layouts and pagination have been set. i cant wait to see the printed pages. Once printed i intend to crop the book down flush and then hand saddle stitch it through the middle with a corresponding colour match thread.
